Intro to CAF Basics
Let’s start with the basics and build your CAF IQ.
CAF FACTS
CAF is Foam (High energy)
Foam is Bubbles!!
Bubbles is Water!!
Bubbles have an increased (STMR) surface area over water drops to absorb heat faster! And that’s all there is!!!
A-FOAM REFERSHER
CompressedAirFoam.com is based on prior knowledge of Class A Foam. Utilizing CAF or operating a CAFS depends on a basic knowledge of firefighting (foaming) detergent concentrates, solution, basic operations of concentrate proportioners and the benefits of bubbles.
For personnel not comfortable with their Class A (Ordinary Combustible) Foam IQ, please visit the A-Foam section to refresh on the A-Foam Basics. To check on your current A-Foam IQ, check out our A-Foam IQ Quiz. Personnel comfortable with the A-Foam IQ are ready to move forward to learn more about CAF.
A quick refresher:
CAF is Bubbles!!
Water + Firefighting Foaming Detergent Concentrate (=Solution) + Air (Compressed) + Agitation = FOAM!!!
As a bubble of any size, all the water is on the outside of the bubble (air is in the middle) thus, unlike a drop, this exposes all the water to the heat. This is why water in a bubble form is superior in heat absorption as compared to water in a drop form.
If your department hasn’t purchased a system and wants to GO CAF but has little knowledge on which direction to head in getting started and how to go about purchasing a System(s) check out the NEW CAF PROGRAM.
If your department has a system but personnel are not comfortable with it’s operation – this is the place to be!!!
