% Solution

% Solution is simply the mix of Water and Concentrate (W + Conc).

A .3% (3/10ths of 1 %) solution is 1/3 gallon of concentrate mixed with 100 gallons of water.

A .5% (5/10ths of 1%) Solution is 1/2 gallon of concentrate mixed with 100 gallons of water.

How Much Concentrate is Used?

Class A Foam is always used between .1% and 1%.

NAF (Aspirated) uses a Solution of .5% (Concentrate) to 99.5% (water).

CAF uses a Solution of .3% (Concentrate) to 99.7% (Water). It’s almost all Water.

Water is not being removed from firefighting when making Foam. Only Concentrate and Air are being added to increase the water’s heat absorbing capability… Water is still the fire extinguishing (cooling) agent.
